Beforehand an introductory speech VeeCon 2023serial entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchukaka Gary Vee, spoke about tracking the things you want to track and then building the brand instead of chasing trends.

Co-founder and CEO of RSE Ventures Matt Higgins reiterated this opinion during a panel speech at VeeCon on Friday afternoon.

What happened: Higgins shared advice from his time on ABC’s Shark Tank Mark Cuban.

When Cuban tells a company he doesn’t like something about it (e.g., the company name), entrepreneurs often say, “We can change it,” but that’s the opposite of what they should respond, he said.

“Don’t be a reed in the wind… just stay true to your beliefs… these are the people who win in the long run,” Higgins told the packed crowd at VeeCon.

Venture capitalists and what they look for in companies are like chameleons and colors – they are always changing. Rather than adapting your business to the current investment landscape, you should stick to your line and hold your ground, Higgins said.

The same goes for people wondering what to do about AI. Will AI Take My Job Away? Should AI be my job? Should I integrate AI into my company? Should I make AI my business?

Higgins believes that the real winners will be the people who embrace AI and figure out how to apply it to their businesses, rather than completely transforming their business.

Done right, AI has the potential to be the big equalizer, Higgins said.

The popular entrepreneur told the crowd that he expects a convergence between blockchain technology and AI at some point. Truth has been cheapened, but people can use the blockchain to validate anything.
