M’sian point-of-sale system improves business efficiency in dental clinics

Last time we had a conversation with a Malaysian point of sale (POS) system supplier Qingyun, The brand is Clients in the field of beauty, medical and health.

However, around that time, CEO Kevin Nair had already expressed his interest in providing dental clinic services for Vulcan Post.

Less than a year later, he is proud to share that they have achieved this goal. Within 1 month after the launch of the new POS system, kumoDent, 15 dental clinics have joined.

Adjustment system

It all started with inquiries from participants in the dental industry who heard that cosmetic and medical service providers are using Aoikumo’s POS system in 2019.

When MCO arrives in 2020, the Aoikumo team believes that now is a good time for them to shift some of their development attention to a suitable dental POS system.

However, if Aoikumo’s existing POS system can provide services to beauty, medical and healthcare service providers, why should they redouble their efforts to create a new system for dental clinics?

Kevin replied: “We missed the dental and periodontal disease charts. At the same time, the patient’s journey, that is, the process from the patient’s arrival at the clinic to the checkout, is different.”

“In addition, Aoikumo has more functions than dental clinics, such as package control, marketing modules, tiered commissions, etc.”

Despite these differences, the team’s goal is still to make kumoDent and Aoikumo share the same platform.

In this way, kumoDent subscribers can also use their available kumoSan (for employee management) and kumoBiz (a streamlined version of the POS system to simplify business operations) applications, eliminating the need to develop more separate applications.

However, this plan has a caveat. “When kumoDent is launched, we must ensure that nothing we do will disrupt existing Aoikumo customers,” Kevin shared.

Therefore, the team spends most of their time testing to ensure that their architecture can withstand the impact of adding kumoDent.

Customers who take care of their clients

kumoDent is not the only dental clinic POS system in Malaysia, because there are also overseas competitors providing services here.

But Kevin believes that he and the Aoikumo team have their USP. If the people who intend to use it can’t figure it out, then there is still no point in creating the most technological and efficient system.

Since the main users of kumoDent are nurses and doctors, the team ensures that any new features and functions released are easy to use. At the same time, they provide easily accessible help and support.

Then there are value-added services within the Aoikumo ecosystem, including the aforementioned kumoSan application.

On the customer side, Aoikumo has a MeTIME Wellness app, through which patients can make appointments, check past transactions, and more.

Some upcoming improvements include adding an over-the-app purchase feature that allows patients to pay for treatment on the app itself.

As they say, knowledge is power. kumoDent provides patients with post-treatment care reports, such as advice on how to care for teeth after filling or removing wisdom teeth.

Facts have proved that this end-to-end care is very popular among kumoDent’s target customers. Today, dental clinics account for about 10% of Aoikumo’s total network subscribers. Kevin pointed out that this number is still growing.

Focus and get on the right track

In the next year, Aoikumo aims to open a total of 300 clinics on kumoDent. The team has set aside budget to increase sales and marketing efforts to increase visibility and strengthen brand image.

After these efforts, Kevin said: “We are still on the right track and believe that we will achieve our goals next year.”

As for other growth targets, he replied: “If the situation permits, carry out regional and international expansion, and use the MeTIME Wellness app more to simplify patient bookings and purchases.”

Although the possibilities are endless, Kevin and his team chose to focus on kumoDent and Aoikumo first, but will not exclude other verticals in the medical and health industries in the future.
