New ad from Pro-DeSantis PAC names Florida governor as successor to…

A Super PAC supporting Ron DeSantis’ potential presidential campaign launched a new ad positioning the Florida governor as the former president’s GOP successor donald trump.

What happened: The Super PAC, Never back down — founded by a former senior Trump administration official Ken Cuccinelli to urge DeSantis to enter the 2024 US presidential election – in a new ad called “Winner,” DeSantis presented the future of the Republican Party.

The ad contains statements from DeSantis speeches in which he describes Florida as a “fortress of liberty” and a place where the concept of “waking up” does not exist.

The ad features a collage of three newspaper front pages, with the left-most Des Moines Register showing a cover with a Trump and the headline “He’s Hired.” The camera then shifts focus to the other two covers on the right, with one by a Florida-based newspaper, The Naples Daily News, headlined “DeSantis does it,” while the other by The New York Post with the headline comes from “DeZukunft”.

The video then shows footage of two people putting up a “DeSantis 2024” sign on their lawn; Florida leader says, “Decline is a choice, and freedom is worth fighting for.”

The ad ends with a man placing a “DeSantis for President” decal on top of a “Trump 2016” decal on his vehicle.

Why it matters: DeSantis supporters have encouraged him to make his run official to counteract the growing notion that the former US President is the clear favorite for the 2024 GOP nomination. The GOP sources close to DeSantis are reportedly suggesting that the Florida governor is gradually making its way towards the presidential candidate and is ready to jump in…
