In a school election victory, on September 8, the Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) Board of Education approved the New Pacific School – Rancho Cordova Charter School. Local parents expressed support for the New Pacific School during the hearing and emailed board members directly to express their desire for an additional option for families living in Rancho Cordova.
The New Pacific School is a small school, open to all students, building bonds between student, family and school, with the unique option of a hands-on and project-based curriculum, where teachers serve as guides and encourage a cooperative student. centered environment. The school will add a middle school in 2024 and a high school soon after.
The New Pacific School is part of the Pacific Charter Institute (PCI), a nonprofit organization founded in 2005 by educators in Sacramento. PCI has extensive experience serving students and families throughout Northern California, including the New Pacific School – Roseville, which opened this fall. With the go-ahead from the FCUSD school board, members of the New Pacific School will begin enrolling students at the Rancho Cordova site for the upcoming school year.
