New York launches legal weed sale by delivery despite GOP…

New York’s illegal recreational marijuana market thrivealthough the eagerly awaited start of legal sales is just around the corner.

The states cannabis Delivery services received guidance last week and are ready to begin operations ahead of the first storefront sales starting, Marijuana Moment reported.

Under the guidelines, licensees whose storefronts were built by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) may make deliveries from a warehouse location to adults 21 and older. Also, consumers can only place prepaid orders over the phone or online.

“CAURD licensees can receive approval from the Office of Cannabis Management to begin supplying customers and boosting sales of New York cannabis products with a model that helps them be competitive while providing options for licensee entrepreneurs when they are developing new adult uses cannabis companies,” said New York Office of Cannabis Management (OCM).

The move follows that of OCM output the “Guidance for Adult-Use Dispensaries,” a set of regulations for licensees and applicants for Conditional Adult-Use Retails Dispensaries (CAURD) in October.

GOP opposition still strong

While Cantor Fitzgeralds Pablo Zuanic Believing that deliveries will start later this month and that the first stores will open in the first quarter of 2023, many state and city officials are still strongly opposed.

“I’m not at all pro-marijuana legalization,” NYC councilman Vickie Paladino said in an interview with CBS New York. She added that marijuana cannot be compared to alcohol.

“If you’re driving and you’re drunk, a police officer will stop you … then certain tests will be carried out on the spot and you’ll either be arrested or your car will be confiscated,” Paladino said Sunday at “The Point with Marcia Kramer”.
