SageVerse is changing the landscape for MMORPGs

The world of SageVerse is inspired by the two Chinese fiction genres, xianxia and wuxia. Wuxia represents the warriors of ancient China, and although these martial artists are highly skilled and possess superhuman abilities, they are still bound by the limits of mortality.
Xianxia is similar to wuxia but includes “Taoist cultivators” with supernatural powers and longer lifespans as they elevate their “cultivation realm”. As cultivators rise in power, they undergo “heavenly tribulations” and must gather companions and secure resources to rebel against Heaven and validate their Dao.
The game blends both genres, allowing for more elements of unlimited creativity and rich gameplay.
Ian Gilliam, CEO of SageVerse LLC, sees a great opportunity to bring the Chinese martial arts fantasy genre to a wider western audience. According to him, “Over the past decade, the anime/manga industry has been an example of Asian literary styles that resonated strongly with Western audiences, and the introduction of Asian culture to Western audiences across all entertainment sectors has proven tremendously successful.“
He adds that the nature of the light novels based on “Wuxia” and “Xianxia” creates an ideal environment for MMORPGs.
