Actor Seth Rogen is bringing a new series to the Apple TV+ streaming platform in May. Despite his existing relationship with apple inc AAPLRogen didn’t hold back with his comments on the salaries of the streaming company’s executives and secret viewership figures.
What happened: Rogen and his co-stars of the upcoming Apple TV+ series Platonic celebrated the series’ premiere ahead of its May 24 release. Nonetheless, the cast quickly drew attention to the ongoing writers’ strike. which began on May 1st.
“Personally, I’m disturbed that I have no idea how successful these shows and movies we are producing for streaming services are,” Rogen said, as reported by diversity. “The secrecy just makes me think they make way more money off of all of us than they want to share with anyone.”
Many streaming platforms do not announce viewership figures, including Apple. streaming giant Netflix Inc NFLXFor example, highlights the top ten shows and films each week and the number of minutes watched.
“These executives are making insane salaries that you would only earn by running an incredibly profitable company,” Rogen said. “Thank goodness for these unions and their ability to force these giant corporations that have banded together to cut workers’ wages, to actually do something every now and then and to act fairly and justly.”
“Platonic” co-star Rose Byrnewhose series “Physical” also runs on Apple TV+ got involved.
“It is long overdue to reassess and restructure these contracts that we are under. The DGA is obviously online, but it starts with and ends without the authors. Without writing there is no directing, no acting,” Byrne said.
co-star Carla Gallo, who also worked with Rogen and Byrne on Neighbors, credited residuals as an important source of income for actors and actresses like her.
