In June, Sheryl Sandberg resigned as COO of Meta. However, the company has decided to continue paying for their security until 2023, citing “continuing threats to their security”.

According to Meta, from October 1 to June 30, 2023, the company will pay for security services at Sandberg’s homes and when she is conducting private business.

By using her company resources to fund a non-employee’s personal safety, Meta appears to contradict Facebook’s earlier moves to probe Sandberg’s role in the investigation possible misuse of company resources.

A previous report said the investigation included a review of Sandberg’s use of the Facebook company’s resources to plan her wedding.

Facebook paid nearly $9 million for Sandberg’s security on her properties and personal travel in 2021.

On leaving the company, Sandberg called Her time at Meta was the “honor and privilege of a lifetime,” but joked that it’s also “not the most manageable job anyone’s ever had.”

In recent years, Meta has endured difficult circumstances and controversy, and has come under fire from regulators.

Sandberg will remain on the Meta board and will receive non-employee director compensation.

Zuckerberg has called his long-term associate Javier Olivan as Sanberg’s successor. Olivan joined Facebook over 15 years ago.
