Sinaloa cartel looking to get legit: El Chapo’s sons ‘overseeing’ litigation

That Sinaloa cartel wants to get his share back cannabis business it once ran. This time, the criminal organization seems to be doing it right and wanting to avoid the illegal side of the business.
To to Business Insider (BI), the three sons of the notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman (the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, who is currently serving a life sentence after being extradited to the US) oversee the cartel’s weed operations in Culiacan.

The Sons of El Chapo known as “Los Chapitos‘ or ‘Juniors’ contain:

  • Ivan Archivaldo39, known as “El Chapito”,
  • jesus alfredo, 36, known as “Alfredillo”
  • and Ovidio32, known as “El Raton”

They “gave us the confidence to start producing the best weed in Mexico,” a cannabis producer employed by the cartel told BI. “They asked me if I knew what I was doing. I said yes and through someone else they became the sponsors of this project.”

For now, Employees and producers working for “Los Chapitos” are in the process of creating a new variety and launching a brand.

“We buy seeds from all over the world to create our own strain, produce premium Sinaloa cannabis and develop a strong brand that’s even better than the gringos,” the producer continued.

Interestingly, they are also pushing for the legalization of cannabis in Mexico (cannabis has been decriminalized in Mexico, but Congress has yet to pass full legalization legislation to establish legal guidelines for cultivation, sale, and possession by all adults).

“The juniors don’t just invest in the production and branding of weed,” the employee said. “They are also investing in lobbying Mexico’s leaders to legalize weed.”
