Skanska constructs medical school building for the University of Texas…

STOCKHOLM, December 29, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Skanska and its joint venture partner HGR General Contractors signed a contract with The University of Texas at Tyler to build a medical training building Tyler, Texas, UNITED STATES. The contract is worth overall $218 millionabove SEK 2.2 billion. Skanska’s share is worth it $111 millionabove SEK 1.1 billionwhich will be included in US orders for the fourth quarter of 2022.

The medical education building, a five-story facility covering approximately 75,000 square feet, will support the interdisciplinary education of medical students and will serve as part of the expansion of the graduate medical education program throughout UT Health East Texas’ healthcare system.

In addition, the Medical Education Building provides outpatient and specialty clinical services with exam rooms, specimen collection/processing, and imaging facilities. Additional project components consist of a central supply facility, a skybridge and parking structures.

The start of construction is planned for 2018 December 2022 and is expected to be completed in Feather from 2025.
