Mu Sun and his partner Dingjian “Dean” Zhang co-founded the SKYBC.IO Website as an air crowdsourcing platform for American real estate advertising. Mu Sun, a veteran technology entrepreneur in the internet industry, has since evolved this concept into USchool, a mini-program within WeChat. Officially known as the US High School Drone Visiting School Selection, the applet helps people see the world from afar.
The pandemic partially blocked flights between China and the United States. This has hampered many Chinese students’ plans to attend overseas schools. Mu Sun and his partner Dean saw a solution in their existing aerial photography. Through aerial photographs of hundreds of American campuses, they gave international students and parents a bird’s-eye view of the school’s facilities and surrounding area. As an ongoing option, USchool is a viable way to reduce travel costs, time, and barriers.
The underlying SKYBC.IO website introduced two innovative goals. The first was to fill the link between “the air needs of a property owner or agent” and “local qualified drone pilots with free time”. The second was the introduction of a “City Partner” recruitment plan, where a partner can buy out any city on an annual basis. Performances were measured in the output of video templates with professional editing and post-processing.
Three months after launching SKYBC.IO, Mu Sun and Zhang completed more than 1,000 POI (point of interest) resources from 15 Los Angeles cities. This included creating and delivering housing listings in more than 15 school districts and completing the filming and content distribution of 58 school housing resources for a developer totaling $5 million. The duo also received a developer’s $12 million filming, production and distribution agency for winery resorts.
