- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd TSM expects annual sales of US$10 billion from Arizona chip plants.
- TSMC has eyed a second chip fab in Arizona and has tripled its initial investment to $40 billion, Reuters reports.
- The first chip manufacturing plant or fab will be operational by 2024. The second plant nearby will produce the most advanced chips currently in production called “3-nm” by 2026.

- US President Joe Biden and CEOs of major TSMC customers graced the opening ceremony for the new $12 billion facility in an arid and barren part of North Phoenix.
- “Once both fabs are completed, we will produce over 600,000 wafers per year, which translates to annual sales of $10 billion,” said TSMC Chairman Mark Liu, adding that customers using these chips have annual sales of over $40 billion US dollars would achieve.
- Liu said the two plants would create 13,000 high-paying tech jobs, including 4,500 under TSMC.
