Major Wall Street indexes ended lower on Wednesday as investors and traders lost optimism about a possible year-end recovery and prepared for the new year while trimming positions ahead of the week’s end. The Nasdaq Composite closed 1.35% lower on Wednesday the S&P 500 fell 1.2%. The Dow Jones closed 1.1% lower. Meanwhile, here are the five stocks that are attracting investors’ attention today:

1. Tesla Inc TSLA: Tesla shares saw a surprise rebound on Wednesday, closing 3.31% higher. Elon Musk Reportedly told employees not to “let stock market madness bother them” after the electric-vehicle maker’s stock fell nearly 70% this year on concerns about slowing demand for electric vehicles and Musk’s distraction after the Twitter purchase. In an email sent to employees on Wednesday and verified by Reuters, Musk said he believes Tesla will be the world’s most valuable company over the long term.

2. Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN: Amazon shares closed down 1.47% on Wednesday. According to a, the retail giant is considering launching a standalone app for watching sports content report by The Information, which quoted people briefed on the talks. The move comes in the wake of the CEO Andy Jassi Doubling down on the company’s streaming ambitions.

3. Kala Pharmaceuticals Inc KALA: The company’s shares closed 218% higher on Wednesday, also up 32% in extended trading. The Company announced FDA approval of an investigational new drug (IND) application for its KPI-012 for treatment with persistent corneal epithelial defects.

4. Minerva Neurosciences Inc NERVE: The company’s shares closed 39% lower on Wednesday but are up 4.2% in extended trading. Minerva said in a statement the FDA has confirmed it will not submit the company’s new drug application for roluperidone to treat negative symptoms in patients with schizophrenia.
