Tesla China sales lagged Warren Buffett-backed rival by 44% in October:…

Tesla Inc. TSLA Sales slowed slightly in October from the Record performance of the previous month.

What happened: Tesla sold 71,704 cars made in China, or MIC, in October, down 13.8% from 83,135 cars sold in September, preliminary data from the China Passenger Car Association showed. according to to Reuters.

Year-over-year, MIC sales increased 31.83% from 54,391 units in the prior-year period.

The performance comes amid fears that demand in China is slowing due to the slowing and severe domestic economy COVID-19 restrictions.

Tesla China has lowered its prices Giga Shanghai-made cars by about 5% at the end of October, partially reversing a series of price increases announced earlier this year.

MIC sales were nonetheless the highest first month sales of any quarter, Gary Black of Future Funds said. The fund manager expects a split of 21,700 domestic sales and 50,000 exports. The price cut would only have impacted domestic sales for a week, Black added.
