Tesla impersonates parody Handle amid Elon Musk’s Twitter ‘Blue…

Tesla Inc. TSLA CEO and now Twitter owner Elon Musk’s Fighting Brand Scammers Setting up fake but verified accounts doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

What happened: On Friday, verified Twitter users posing as big brands trespassed into Musk’s personal territory. A fake Tesla account with the blue verification tick and @TesIaReal handle garnered tens of thousands of likes during an eight-hour promotion. reported Bloomberg.

The fake Tesla account shared posts about the automaker’s safety, stock price and solar panels.

A post from the now-suspended account said: “We will offer 10,000 vehicles to support the Ukrainian military. Our cars are the most advanced explosive devices on the market.”

Another post said, “Everyone’s talking about Twitter bursting into flames, but our cars did it before it was cool.”

Why it matters: Although the account was flagged as a spoof after Musk warned that Twitter would ban those who weren’t “positively identified as such,” it still highlighted the problem of people setting up fake accounts of other notables or brands with verified insignia.

Musk later explained that parody accounts must include “parody” in their names.
