This European City Wants To Legalize Marijuana, New Trial Begins…

The Swiss government considering legalization of leisure cannabis use and sale in Zurich as part of a new test set to be launched this summer, reported CNBC.

The latest move builds on a year 2021 the change the Federal Narcotics Act that came into force in Switzerland, enable pilot testing with the supply of cannabis for non-medical purposes. It also follows other European countries that are more mindful of their cannabis regulations, such as Germany.

New marijuana study

As part of the Swiss Experimental Program carried out in partnership with the University of Zurich, a group of 2100 Zurich residents are permitted to purchase cannabis for personal use from any of the city’s many dispensaries, dispensaries and social clubs.

Participants take a a questionnaire every six months to record their consumption habits and health effects.

The aim is to examine how the legalization of recreational cannabis relates to the “promotion of the health and safety of individuals and the public”.

“The idea is to get robust real-world evidence to inform policy-making for new things [national] regulation on cannabis”, Barbara Burri, Project manager at the health department of the city of Zurich, said. The results will be published regularly from next year.

The largest city in Switzerland is now at the forefront of the wave of legalization in the country. The first CBD spa in Europe was inaugurated at the foot of the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps almost a year ago.
