Former President donald trump arrived in New York City on Monday aboard his private plane to face arraignment in a case payment of hush money to the adult film actor Stormy Daniels.
What happened: Trump, the first president to be prosecuted, flew from West Palm Beach, Fla., to Queens’ LaGuardia Airport, Reuters reported.
The former president’s legal team has reportedly been beefed up with the addition of death Blancheformer federal prosecutor and commercial criminal defense attorney.
According to the report, Blanche and other Trump attorneys urged the judge in the Daniels case Monday not to allow video, photo and radio broadcasts of the prosecution.
Lawyers said allowing such coverage would “exacerbate an already almost circus-like atmosphere in this case.”
Why it matters: Trump was indicted last week by a New York grand jury in an investigation into the alleged payment of $130,000 to the adult film actor.
Blanche has previously represented Paul Manfort, Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. He was also the attorney for Igor Fruman — an associate of Trump’s former personal attorney Rudy Giuliani – noted Reuters.
Before leaving Florida, Trump took to social media to call the upcoming indictment a “WITCH HUNT.” He said he will go to court on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Mayor of New York, Eric Adamssaid there was no specific security threat and urged people to “be on their best behavior,” according to Reuters.
It was previously reported that the New York City Police Department did so erected barriers outside of Trump Tower.
