What happened: Trump’s campaign said, “President Donald J. Trump is completely innocent, he did nothing wrong.”
The statement released by Trump called Bragg’s investigation the “latest witch hunt” conducted by a “radical left-wing Democratic prosecutor backed by George Soros.”
The campaign highlighted Bragg’s political donations to “Radical Democrats like Raphael Warnock” to show his bias.
“Americans will not tolerate radical left-wing Democrats turning our justice system into an injustice system,” the statement said.

Why it matters: Trump’s campaign was preparing to lay the groundwork for an attack on Democrat Bragg. reported The New York Times cited two of the former president’s allies on Thursday.
The unnamed sources reportedly said the campaign is strengthening its ranks with staff who would focus on getting its message out and attacking prosecutors.
More specifically, according to the Times, the campaign team had plans to tie Bragg’s investigation to President Joe Biden.
In Thursday’s statement, the campaign said, “Bragg is making a political donation of a different nature to Joe Biden.” It claimed that the Ministry of Justice had staffed the DA’s office with top DC people to help “Get Trump.”
Bragg is investigate a case against Trump, involving a $130,000 payment made by in 2016 Michael Kohenhis former lawyer and fixer, to the porn star Stormy Daniels.
