What happened: US District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan said the names and other details of prospective jurors for Trump’s trial, which begins April 25, are classified.
The jury will be transported together and US Marshals will be present during break times, the report said.
The judge said the anonymity was due to the “unprecedented circumstances in which this trial will take place, including extensive pre-trial publicity and a very high risk that jurors will fear harassment, unwanted invasion of their privacy and retaliation.”
Why it matters: Kaplan turned down Trump and Carroll’s request for a single trial to be held this week. Both parties had said that consolidating Carroll’s lawsuits would be more efficient and avoid jury confusion, Reuters reported separately.
In January, Trump’s attorneys attempted to file one of the cases under a New York law that allows adult victims of sexual abuse to be sued years after the attack fire.
The lawyers used UK tactics Prince Andrews Attorneys questioning the constitutionality of the law, also opposed by Kaplan.
