donald trump hit his protégé and former South Carolina governor hard Nikki Haley Shortly after she announced her presidential candidacy.
What happened: Haley stated very publicly that she “would never run against the President. He did an AMAZING JOB and was the best president of my life,” Trump said on his social media platform Truth shortly after she announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination.
“I told Nikki to follow her heart, not her ambition or her beliefs. Who knows, stranger things have happened. It’s at 1% in polls, not a bad start!!!” he added.
Haley had said in 2021 that she would not run for the Oval Office if Trump decides to launch a presidential campaign.

In a separate post, he hinted that South Carolina would be better off not having Haley as governor. Trump said the biggest thing Haley did for the country and the state of South Carolina was to accept the position of ambassador to the UN. The former president praised MacMaster, saying he did an “absolutely fantastic job”.
Trump added, “That was a big reason I brought Nikki to this position — it was a favor for the people I love in South Carolina.”

However, Haley has refused to get drawn into a war of words with the former president, telling Fox & Friends that “Donald Trump is my friend… I’m not stepping sideways in this race. I step forward. It is Joe Biden who is the President.”
Trump, meanwhile, posted a series of comments on his Truth Social account attacking Haley, calling her an “interventionist neocon,” a “flip-flopper” and a “born loser.”
