The Manhattan District Attorney who treats the former President donald trump‘s hush money case, has sued a Republican lawmaker probing Alvin Braggs investigations into the case.

What happened: Bragg accused the Judiciary Speaker of the House of Representatives Jim Jordan a “transparent campaign to intimidate and attack” his office’s case against Trump, according to the New York Attorney accused the ex-president of 34 criminal offenses the falsification of business documents, reported CNN.

“Congress has no valid legislative purpose to engage in an uncontrolled harassment campaign in retaliation for the District Attorney’s investigation and prosecution of Mr. Trump under the laws of New York,” the lawsuit reads.

Congress lacks the constitutional authority to “oversee, much less interfere, with ongoing federal criminal matters.”

Why it matters: Republican lawmaker Jordan is a staunch Trump ally and has recently sent out many letters and letters Subpoenas to persons involved in the case against the ex-president.

Trump was the first president in American history to be indicted in a New York hush money trial.

Jordan had requested testimony in one of his subpoenas Markus Pomerantz, formerly a prosecutor in the Trump investigation. Pomerantz disagreed with Bragg on how to proceed with the investigation, which he spoke out about after leaving the office last year.

Meanwhile, Bragg’s office has repeatedly denied Republican claims that this is the case The persecution of Trump is politically motivated and has called them “unfounded”. The prosecutor also accuses Trump supporters of “unlawful interference” in his jurisdiction.
