Tesla Inc TSLA chairman Elon Musk-LED Twitter was reportedly sued over plans to remove it nearly half of its workforce.

What happened: The class action lawsuit was filed by attorney in federal court in San Francisco, California Shannon Liss Riordan, reported Bloomberg.

“We filed this lawsuit tonight to ensure employees are aware that they should not sign their rights and that they have an opportunity to assert their rights,” the attorney said.

According to a Bloomberg email from the company, Twitter plans to launch layoffs on Friday.

Why it matters: The federal Worker Reconciliation and Retraining Act (WARN) requires employees to be given 60 days’ notice before mass layoffs can be initiated by companies, Bloomberg noted.

In June, Tesla stood in front of you class action started by two employees who said they did not receive notice. The two were fired among a group of 500 employees at the automaker’s battery plant in Nevada.

Liss-Riordan was involved in the Tesla lawsuit, in which the company won a ruling by a federal judge in Austin that forced workers to pursue their claims in closed arbitration rather than in public court, Bloomberg reported.

She reportedly said that Musk is repeating his “playbook” about what he did at Tesla. “We will now see if he continues to turn his nose up at the laws in this country that protect workers,” Liss-Riordan said.
