Elon Musk officially announced this on Friday Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter. Yaccarino will follow suit Social media giant in about six weeks.
Yaccarino and Musk met at MMA’s POSSIBLE Miami event in April, where Yaccarino interviewed Musk. With Yaccarino soon to take over as Twitter’s executive echelon, the conversation between the two is now underway looks more like an interview.
During the interaction, Yaccarino spoke positively about Musk and Twitter. Interestingly, she also asked if he thought he should be held to “different or higher standards” as a Twitter owner.
“They said, for example, that you probably shouldn’t tweet after 3 a.m.,” Yaccarino said. “Will you commit to being a little more specific and not tweeting after 3am?”
In response, Musk said that while he “would strive to tweet less after 3 a.m.,” it would be “wrong” to allow other people to influence what he tweets.
“That would be a restriction on freedom of expression,” he said.
When Yaccarino asked Musk how he was handling Twitter’s rebranding efforts, Musk replied, “I try to make Twitter fun, interesting, and informative. The optimization for Twitter is.” [to] Maximize idle user time.”
Musk added, “For civilization to advance, we need freedom of speech.”
Yaccarino’s farewell to Comcast Corporation NBCUniversal was revealed Friday morning. She was CEO of the company’s global advertising and partnerships and played a key role in launching NBCUniversal’s ad-supported streaming service Peacock.
