Ukraine said it discovered a mass grave containing 440 bodies in the northeastern city of Izium days after the recapture Wladimir Putin‘s powers.

What happened: “Mass graves are being discovered in Izyum… The current largest burial ground has 440 unmarked graves,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense tweeted.

This comes after the Ukrainian military’s counter-offensive last week forced thousands of Russian forces to retreat from the captured region. The armed forces left behind large amounts of ammunition and equipment, which they used in their war against Ukraine.
