For the fourth time in just over a week, the US military has shot down an unidentified flying object over North America.
The last aerial object to be shot down was tracked down over Lake Huron in Michigan, citing two US officials, according to Bloomberg.
The object was flying at 20,000 feet when it was taken down, and was described as “octagonal in shape with threads hanging from it,” according to CNN sources.
Representative Elissa Slotkin And Jack Bergman both commented on the incident. Slotkin, a Michigan Democrat, tweeted that the object was brought down by US Air Force and National Guard pilots and that she wanted to know more about the incident.
Bergman, also from Michigan, expressed his appreciation for the “decisive action” taken by the fighter pilots. He tweeted, “The American people deserve far more answers than we do.”
US military fighter jets shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon over US territorial waters off the coast of South Carolina for the first time on February 4. While the US said the balloon was for surveillance, China claimed it was a civilian meteorological research airship that was off course.
On February 10, two US F-22 Raptors were used to shoot down an object about the size of a car over the coast of northeast Alaska. The very next day, US fighter pilots shot down a high-flying aircraft over Canada’s Yukon Territory.
