Gothenburg, Sweden, May 22, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Volvo Trucks has signed a letter of intent to sell 1,000 electric trucks by 2030 to Holcim, one of the world’s largest providers of construction solutions. The deal is the largest commercial order for Volvo electric trucks to date. The first 130 trucks will be delivered in 2023 and 2024.

Holcim is a global manufacturer of building solutions headquartered in Switzerland. Now the company and its contractors have reached an agreement with Volvo Trucks to plan to deploy 1,000 electric Volvo trucks at Holcim’s facilities in Europe between now and 2030.

The first 130 Volvo FH and Volvo FM heavy electric trucks will be delivered to markets, among others France, Germany, Switzerland and Great Britain in the fourth quarter of 2023 and throughout 2024.

The agreement is the result of a broader partnership between Holcim and the Volvo Group.

Replacing 1,000 existing Volvo FH diesel trucks with Volvo FH electric trucks, using green electricity on a typical route, could save up to 50,000 tons of CO2 every year.

Both companies are involved in the Science-based Targets initiative, which drives ambitious climate action in the private sector, and both are also founding members of the First Movers Coalition (FMC).
