Tesla Inc TSLA Vehicle owners may have cause for concern when a detailed Reuters report comes to light.

The special investigation found that footage from video cameras attached to Teslas, which are typically used for the cars’ navigation system, was easily accessible to Tesla employees, who have consistently shared the images on private company channels.

While the footage was received anonymously, former Tesla employees said a program could be used to access the exact location of the footage, which could lead to the identification of the cars’ owner and where they live.

“We could see into people’s garages and their private properties,” one employee said, referring to a now-disabled feature that would allow Tesla employees to access the cameras, even with cars turned off, if owners had theirs granted consent.

That feature was removed a few years ago, but the company can still access footage of running cars.

Collecting short video clips or images has been specified in Tesla’s privacy notices to customers, which users agree to use the cars.

Former Tesla employees said they often share images from the cars’ video system with humorous captions that go viral on their internal communication platforms.

Footage revealed an accident in which a speeding driver struck a child on a bicycle. Others showed the inside of people’s garages, which could lead to identifying those owners if they owned distinctive objects.

Among those garages, Tesla employees were able to identify the inside of Elon Musk’s own home by sharing footage of a one-of-a-kind submersible version of a 1977 Lotus Esprit used in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, which Musk purchased as a part of had a collector’s item in 2013 for $968,000.

Tesla did not respond to a request for comment from Benzinga.
