polygon MATIC/USDofficially launched its long-awaited mainnet for its new Polygon zkEVM network on Monday. To celebrate the occasion, the core developers of the sidechain invited ether ETH/USD Creator Vitalik Buterin to send the very first transaction.

What happened: On one live streamed event To mark the occasion, Buterin attached a message to his transaction – “A few million limitations for humans, unlimited scalability for humanity” – encoded in hex code.

Buterin has repeatedly pushed the Ethereum network’s transaction gas limit to an impressive 69,042, subtly hinting at two popular meme numbers – 69 and 420. Polygon Labs Head of Growth, Saint Shahwent so far as to call the creator of Ethereum “a man of culture” for this sly reference.

Polygon zkEVM is a network that takes blockchain performance to the next level, offering lightning-fast and low-cost transactions that outperform Ethereum’s own mainnet.

Price action: ETH traded at $1,711, down 3.11% in the last 24 hours, according to Benzinga Pro.
