Apple removes Bitcoin white paper from latest macOS release – Apple…

While the document went unnoticed by millions of Apple users through 2020, it caught the attention of designer Joshua Dickens, who shared it on Twitter. It wasn’t until April 2021 that someone started a thread about it on Apple’s support forums, but it didn’t gain widespread attention until well-known technologist Andy Baio wrote about it last month.

Baio speculated on the reason for the secret placement of this document on Apple computers. “Out of all the documents in the world, why was the Bitcoin white paper chosen? Is there a secret Bitcoin Maxi working at Apple?” he mused. “Maybe it was just a convenient, lightweight multi-page PDF for testing purposes that should never be seen by end users.”
