Coinbase CEO Hints at Bitcoin Lightning Network Integration – Coinbase…

Brian Armstrong, the manager of coin base COINone of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, hinted at the possible integration of Bitcoins BTC/USD Lightning shift 2 Scaling solution on their platform.

What happened: Armstrong responded to a tweet criticizing him on April 8 for “actively ignoring” the network. He responded and said, “Lightning is awesome and something we’re going to integrate.”

There are currently no details on what a Lightning integration on Coinbase would entail or when it might be expected. The crypto exchange has been criticized in the past for not integrating the Lightning Network, which allows for faster and cheaper BTC transactions than the underlying Bitcoin network.

Coinbase has been more active in the ether ETH/USD ecosystem lately. The company launched Base on Feb. 23, an application-focused Ethereum Layer 2 network fueled by Layer 2 optimism.

Lightning launched in March 2018, and last month the network celebrated its fifth birthday.
