Sicknick suffered a stroke and died of natural causes the day after the Capitol riot, according to DC’s chief medical officer Francisco Diazreported CNN, citing the Washington Post.
Diaz said that “everything that happened” on Jan. 6 “played a role” in Sicknick’s condition, according to the report.

Why it matters: The Sicknick estate also alleged conspiracy, negligence, and assault, noting that Trump ordered his supporters on Jan. 6 to “fight like hell” and “show strength” in his pre-riot speech, CNN noted.

Above all, Julian Chater and George Taniosthe two rioters named in the Sicknick lawsuit have reportedly pleaded guilty to crimes related to the Capitol break-in on Jan. 6 and are due to be sentenced later in January.

The charge of wrongful death against the former president is the most serious charge to date. The late official’s attorneys are seeking more than $10 million in damages from the court, CNN noted.

Trump is already facing other civil actions is linked to the uprising and argues that he enjoys immunity because he was president at the time, the report says.
