Zelenskyy says Macron is wasting time seeking talks with Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the French President said on Sunday Emmanuel Macron wasted its time considering all the conversations with Wladimir Putin.

What happened: Zelenskyy said in an interview with the Italian daily Corriere della Sera that nobody could change Russia’s “stance”. Putin has opted for the “rebuilding of the old Soviet empire”. reported Reuters.

Zelenskyy responded to Macron’s comments that Moscow should be “defeated but not crushed” and so on The conflict in Kiev would have to be settled through negotiations.

“It will be useless dialogue. In fact, Macron is wasting his time. I came to the conclusion that we cannot change the Russian attitude,” said Zelenskyy.

“If they decided to isolate themselves in the dream of rebuilding the old Soviet empire, there is nothing we can do about it. It is up to them whether or not to cooperate with the international community on the basis of mutual respect.”

Macron spoke to Zelenskyy on the phone over the weekend.

In the meantime, Macron urged Western allies to step up military support for the war-torn nation. He also stressed that he did not believe in regime change and that there was no alternative to bringing Putin back to the negotiating table.
