Apple Raises 20W USB-C Charger Shipping Estimates: Analyst – Apple…

apple inc AAPL The company is reportedly increasing shipping estimates of its 20W USB-C charger before the start of the iPhone 15 series.

What happened: Ming Chi Kuoa notable analyst at TF Internationalshared the results of its latest survey, saying Apple has increased its 20W USB-C charger shipping forecast by around 120% for the second and third quarters of 2023.

The tech giant has set its fourth-quarter 2023 shipment target at around 70 million units, reflecting its optimism about the strong replacement demand for 20W USB-C chargers to follow the switch to USB-C for the iPhone 15 seriessaid Kuo.

The growth is credited to strong replacement demand for 20W USB-C models as they’re the “most affordable choice for iPhone users” among Apple’s chargers.

Kuo further explained that a potential factor driving the robust replacement demand could be that future iPhone 15 users could buy more than one Apple 20W USB-C charger to meet the need for more charging stations.

Why it matters: It has been previously reported this apple $6.5 billion saved by removing chargers and headphones from the iPhone packaging that started with the iPhone 12 series.

At the time, the tech giant said the decision was to reduce annual CO2 emissions by two million tons.

Now, Apple is expecting a significant 30% to 40% increase, according to Kuo’s predictions. Growth in 20W USB-C charger shipments in 2023 amounting to 230-240 million units.
