The large HomePod comes built-in with a sound-detection feature that can hear such alarms and send notifications straight to the user’s iPhone, the tech giant says.

This second generation smart speaker can also check the temperature and humidity in a room without any manual help.

The device is available to order online now for $299 and will be generally available on February 3rd.

Why it matters: Unlike the newly launched HomePod, the Tim cook-owned company working on a new low-end iPad with capabilities like thermostats and lights for smart home control, reported Bloomberg citing people with knowledge of the development.

The Cupertino-based company has ceded much of its home market share to its rivals Amazon and Google. Additionally, Siri’s voice control service lags significantly behind Amazon’s functionality alexa and Google Assistant.

The new devices mentioned above, along with upcoming updates in Siri, aim to turn the tables for Apple in the smart home space, the report said.
