The foundation has donated billions of dollars to polio eradication efforts, including funding immunization programs in countries where polio is prevalent.
Gates has also repeatedly warned that until we finally end polio, it remains a threat to humanity. Global efforts to eradicate polio have made significant strides in recent years.
According to Statista, the number of cases has steadily decreased since 1980, according to the latest available data up to 2021.
