New York-based US healthcare company CareCard(TM) has announced the launch of its updated pharmacy card.

With the latest announcement, Care Card is offering Americans affordable prices on over ten thousand FDA-approved brand-name and generic drugs.

The launch offers US consumers a card to access preferential pricing on most prescriptions at over 60,000 pharmacies nationwide.

The rising cost of prescription drugs in the United States is a concern for patients, prescribers, payers and policy makers alike. This is because America spends more on these drugs than any other first world country and prices are usually unregulated.

Additionally, over the past decade, insurance companies have begun passing on 25% to 80% more drug costs to unfortunate patients. Many Americans also have no health insurance or are underinsured. CareCard’s pharmacy card is specifically designed to address these issues.

The card can be requested via email, SMS or printed directly from the company website. Usage simply requires searching for a branded or generic prescription drug on the online platform and comparing prices between nearby pharmacies.

A free coupon will then be issued which can be shown to a pharmacist along with the card. Savings are automatically deducted at checkout.

Although a card can be issued to people with health insurance, it is not a form of health insurance. The pharmacy card can instead be used in place of insurance when purchasing prescription drugs.
