Kyle Bass, Hayman Capital Founder and CIO, warned that ChinaTaiwan conflict is ‘inevitable’ under Xi Jinping’s regime.

What happened: Taking to Twitter, Bass shared a clip from his video interview and said, “War seems inevitable if Xi Jinping lives.”

Amid rising tensions between the US and China, Bass told CNBC’s “Last Call” that “we’re at a pivotal point in history right now” and Xi’s recent speeches hint at preparations for war.

“You know this isn’t a visit where China is just a little saber-rattling. In the last six years, if you really take the time to review Xi Jinping’s speeches at the 19th Party Congress in 2017, the 20th Party Congress last year and just a week ago, the two sessions they meet annually ended. All his Speeches have increased warlike and he talks about war.”

“He discusses the recapture of Taiwan separatists at the 20th Congress, in the working papers, and just last week all four speeches he gave were pre-war speeches.”

In the meantime, during a stopover in New YorkPresident of Taiwan Tsai Ing-wen slammed China for “deliberately” increasing tensions. Taiwan has always remained calm, she said, adding that “the world can see that Taiwan is the responsible party in cross-strait relations‘ reported Reuters.

“Taiwan people look forward to peace, but history teaches us that the best way to avoid war is to empower ourselves,” Tsai said at the event.
