Elon Musk wonders how ChatGPT parent became a $30 billion profit -…

What happened: Responding to a meme about the co-founder and CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman and his company is no longer “nonprofit or even open,” Musk responded, questioning the legality of that shift.

Musk tweeted, “I’m still confused about how a nonprofit I donated ~$100M to somehow turned into a for-profit market cap of $30B. If that’s legal, why isn’t everyone doing it?”

Musk co-founded OpenAI, the startup that developed ChatGPT. In 2018 he left the organization over some disagreements.
