Elon Musk’s Neuralink is looking for a human test partner

Despite concerns about possible animal welfare violations Elon Musk-LED neurolink is looking for a suitable partner to conduct human clinical trials with its brain-implanted chips.

What happened: Neuralink, a brain implant company, got in touch Barrow Neurological Instituteone of the largest centers for neurosurgery in the United States to explore the possibility of a clinical trial partnership.

The company plans to begin testing as soon as regulators give it approval to conduct human testing, Reuters reported, citing six people familiar with the matter.

That comes after US Food and Drug Administration blocked the application progress To conduct human trials citing serious safety concerns.

The company is still working to address these concerns, but employees aren’t confident they can resolve the issue — despite Musk’s recent prediction that Neuralink would receive FDA approval for human trials in 2023.

Neuralink did not respond immediately gasoline gas Request for comments.

Why it matters: Last year, the Inspector General of the US Department of Agriculture initiated an investigation into possible animal welfare violations at Neuralink.

Some employees also expressed concern about the company’s hasty animal testing, which resulted in unjustified agony and death, the report said.

Since 2016, Neuralink has been working on brain implants that could one day serve as a cure for challenging diseases like paralysis and blindness.
