Florida school principal sends $100,000 in tuition to Elon Musk

A Florida school principal sent $100,000 in tuition to a scammer posing as Tesla Inc Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

Jan McGeethe longtime principal of a charter school in the Southeast County of VolusiaShe resigned after it was revealed she had written the check to the scammer. reported WESH TV.

“I love this school more than anything. If that means your administration will stay, I am tendering my resignation,” the outlet quoted McGee as saying.

McGee was the director of Burns Science and Technology Charter School in Oak Hill since its inception in 2011.

According to the report, McGee spoke online for months with a man pretending to be Musk.

McGee tried to get a donation to the school in exchange for a check for $100,000. Instead, she said someone posed as Musk and offered to invest millions of dollars in the school’s payments business.

However, the school manager canceled the check before he could reach the scammer.

After the controversy, school board members and parents insisted that McGee resign, citing her reckless handling of school fees.
