Voluntary recall of certain marijuana products in Arizona over contamination concerns

The Arizona Department of Health (AZDHS) has reported that a number of marijuana companies in Arizona have decided to voluntarily recall several of their products due to potential contamination issues. The recalled items are primarily from the Plant/Trim category and the AZDHS has released a statement detailing those affected cannabis Products.

These are the products identified for recall:

  • Lot number 5726 1079 0361 6347 from Muddy Waters of Source One Meds
  • Lot number 30476 of Mango Sunrise by Nature’s Wonder
  • Lot number BO3221213H from Blood Oath by Potent Planet
  • Lot number JK230116H from Jenny Kush from Deep Root pHarm
  • Lot number BMAC230116H from Big Mac by Deep Root pHarm, reported fox 10

The AZDHS authorities have stated that the reason for the product recall is the possibility of contamination with Aspergillus fungus, a mold found both indoors and outdoors. They emphasized that no illnesses related to the affected products had been reported so far.

Officials clarified that they are taking this step as a precautionary measure. “ADHD lab examiners found possible Aspergillus contamination during a routine inspection of a marijuana testing lab, which found the equipment said the manufacturer had been misused,” the department said called in an opinion. “Once ADHD discovered the potential contamination, the affected facility took immediate action to work with all distribution and retail partners to remove all potentially affected product.”

Customers who purchased the recalled products should discard them immediately, AZDHS said. The statement also advised consumers to contact the pharmacy or facility where they purchased the affected products if they have any further questions.
