Of course, there are steps you can take to have misplaced items returned by an Uber ABOVE or a rental car But is that even possible when it comes to marijuana?

American workers, travelers, and celebrities leave all sorts of personal mess in Ubers and rental cars these days. According to one report, laptops, cell phones, purses and backpacks are among the most common of these accidental abandonments. But the scale of what the scattered populace delivers in the back seats of other people’s vehicles is absolutely endless.

Everything from pets to propane bottles has been found by the drivers of this popular ride-sharing service. It is also becoming increasingly common for people to leave behind cannabis products and paraphernalia. And while a situation involving a lost item is undoubtedly fraught with stress and hassle, losing your weed sucks, man. Of course, there are steps one can take to return misplaced items. But is that even possible when it comes to marijuana? And if so, what does a person need to do to make sure their dope gets home safely?

Even in states where marijuana is now legal for adults 21 and older, returning lost weed to its rightful owner could prove difficult. Legal or not, Uber and car rental companies don’t want passengers using their service to transport cannabis. In fact, Uber’s policy shows a zero-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol. That means if a driver even suspects a passenger has marijuana, they can take steps to get them banned from Uber altogether. The reprimand might start out as just a warning, but with enough marijuana-related reports, a person could be back in a cab in no time. It’s the same with rental cars.

So what should you do if you realize you’ve left your weed in the back of an Uber or rental car? Well if we’re being honest best maybe…
