The most watched series on Netflix Inc NFLX saw people compete in games and contests for the ultimate cash prize. A total of 456 people participated in children’s games where they had a chance to win everything, unknowingly risking their lives.

People aren’t risking their lives in a reality competition centered around the Squid Game franchise, but medical professionals have been brought in during filming of the upcoming series.

What happened: Streaming giant Netflix saw a massive hit in “Squid Game,” which was watched by subscribers in its first 28 days of availability and hit a record 1.65 billion hours Number one in hundreds of countries.

“An incredible 142 million member households worldwide chose to watch the title in its first four weeks,” the company said at the time.

Hit shows like Stranger Things, Bridgerton and recent hit Wednesday have set records for English-language series on Netflix, but all have fallen short of the massive global success that Squid Game has had.

Netflix announced that there would be a second season of the upcoming show and it would release a reality show titled around the hit “Squid Game: The Challenge.”

In the reality series, 456 people compete for a cash prize of $4.56 million. Participants must be at least 21 years old, available for four weeks of filming in 2023 and have a passport Benzinga had previously reported. Contestants will compete in similar challenges from the original show and new games, hoping not to be eliminated, but in this case not dying like in the original show.

A new report of Variety said several contestants on the reality series required medical attention Monday, Jan. 23 while competing in a version of Red Light Green Light on the reality competition’s first day of production.
