Microsoft Corporation MSFT-supports OpenAI says it is developing an upgrade for its chatbot that would allow users to customize it to address concerns about bias in the technology.

What happened: OpenAI said it has already taken mitigation measures political and other prejudices but now wants to accommodate broader and more diverse views, according to a blog post by the company.

According to OpenAI, the upgrade would allow for system issues that some users don’t agree with at all, and provide customization as a way out. However, it acknowledged that “there will always be some limits to system behavior,” the report said.

Why it matters: Earlier this month, a user asked chatGPT to write a poem about President’s positive traits Joe Biden and its predecessor donald trump.

In Trump’s case, the chatbot said it wasn’t “programmed to produce content that is partisan, biased, or political in nature,” but for Biden it used phrases like “leader with such a true heart, a man with empathy and kindness point of view.”

Many people commented on this biased response from the AI-powered chatbot, including Elon Muskwho described it as “serious concern”.

The message came when experts and users alike discuss whether Microsoft’s bing chatpowered by OpenAI, is ready for general release.
