NextEvo Naturals announced Results of an independent study of 16 randomly selected CBD products bought at major retailers in Pennsylvania and online, which showed major discrepancies with label claims.

NextEvo Naturals hired Coral Reef Labs to conduct the randomized study as the CBD category continues to see exponential growth in both consumer interest and emerging brands – while many companies struggle to make products that live up to their label claims. Coral Reef Labs conducts extensive analytical testing at its state-approved laboratory in central Pennsylvania.

The study was conducted objectively and to the highest scientific standards and showed that 50% of the products did not contain at least the amount of CBD stated on the label.

Among the products tested were major national brands such as Charlotte’s Web, SocialCBD, CV Scienceand retailers’ own brands, along with brands like Winged And CBD Distillery. NextEvo Naturals also had the independent lab include NextEvo Naturals’ gummies and capsule lines in the study to highlight the quality of their product.

To prepare for the study, 16 CBD products were randomly selected from grocery stores and diet supplement chains, both located in eastern Pennsylvania. All products were labeled as dietary supplements and most included an expiration date, which according to DSHEA guidelines requires a product to contain at least the amount stated on the label by the expiration date stated on the package. Products with different price points and CBD milligram potency claims were selected.

Of the 16 products tested, 10 were gummies, three were capsule-based, and three were tinctures. The tinctures and capsule-based products exceeded the potency listed on the label, while the gummies had the most errors in terms of potency claims.
