Donald Trump’s legal difficulties have not yet hindered his 2024 presidential bid, according to a new Wall Street Journal poll.

What happened: Trump clearly leads the field in a potential field of 12 Republican candidates, snagging 48% support from Republican primary voters as opposed to 24% for the runner-up and Florida governor Ron DeSantis, the survey found.

The results were based on a poll of 600 likely Republican primary voters conducted between April 11 and 17.

Former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley is third with 5% support, followed by 3% for Senator Tim Scott and 2% for entrepreneurs Vivek Ramaswamy. All three have announced their candidacy for the presidency. The remaining candidates each received less than 1% of the votes. About 13% of those surveyed indicated that they were still undecided.

In a head-to-head match between Trump and DeSantis, the former president leads with 51% voter support versus the latter’s 38%. This marks a reversal from December, when the Florida governor held a 14-point lead over Trump.
