donald trump has chosen to remain off Twitter, even after the new owner of the platform Elon Musk decided to lift the ban on the former president. The decision to reinstate Trump came after a Twitter poll the returned results in favor of his return.

What happened: Trump’s toughest critic and his niece Maria Trump sent a cryptic tweet late Saturday, coinciding with the time the final poll count arrived.

Though Mary didn’t refer to the poll results, the timing of the tweet was a giveaway. Media outlets connected the dots, interpreting the tweet to suggest that Trump is a loser despite the poll’s result.

In her tweet she says said“And still a bloody loser.”

In response to her tweet, one of her followers called Musk a “right-wing billionaire” who wanted Trump’s presence on the platform to “disrupt, confuse and corrupt” the American public and favor the “morbidly rich.”

Why it matters: Mary, a psychologist and author, has been very critical of Trump and the rest of the Trump family. Her first book, Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Made the World’s Most Dangerous Man, is an unauthorized biography of Trump.
She hosts a podcast called The Mary Trump Show, where she talks about politics, among other things.

Mary has been very vocal about her opinions and thoughts on her uncle’s various trials and investigations. Just before Trump officially announced his decision to launch his 2024 presidential campaign, she said in an interview that the The Justice Department must act quickly to indict him otherwise worse things would happen.

Just this month, she lost a 2020 lawsuit against Trump alleging she was cheated out of millions of dollars in a 2001 family settlement.
