Former Attorney General Bill Barr said if donald trump should be re-elected it would make for a “horror show” as he lacks “discipline” and “strategic thinking”.

What happened: Barr, a longtime ally of the former president, when asked by the media whether Trump was “fit” to be POTUS, said: “If you believe in his politics, then he’s promoting his politics, he’s the last person who actually does it.” could perform and reach them.”

“It’s a horror show, you know, when … he’s left to his own devices,” Barr said Friday at the City Club of Cleveland.

“Maybe you want his politics. But Trump will not deliver Trump policy,” Barr said, adding, “He will spread chaos, and if anything leads to a backlash that will set his policy back much further than it otherwise would.”

Why it matters: Barr has recently taken a negative stance on Trump, in which he declared that the former US leader could not win the next election and was a “weak candidate”. However, he has previously said he would still vote for Trump if he became the Republican nominee.

The Republican lead candidate for the 2024 US presidential election, Trump, last year announced his offer. Recent polls have shown that the former president remains a popular candidate for the Republican Party nomination in the upcoming election. Trump has gained support among Republican voters since the indictment and arrest, according to a Morning Consult poll. At the poll Trump has 56% support among Republican voters who would pick him today to win the party’s nomination.
