UBS expands Microsoft cloud partnership to accelerate its digital…

  • UBS Group AG UBS and microsoft corp MSFT expanded their partnership to accelerate UBS’s public cloud footprint next five years.
  • As part of this transformation initiative, UBS plans to run more than 50% of its applications, including critical workloads, on Microsoft Azure, UBS’s primary cloud platform today.
  • The partnership advances UBS’s cloud-first strategy and the modernization of its global technology park.
  • This partnership gives UBS access to the most comprehensive cloud platform, enabling the company to increase the speed at which it can deliver and enhance its digital experiences for clients and employees.
  • At the same time, Azure will help drive UBS’s sustainability initiatives, increase operational efficiencies, and maintain standards for compliance and security.
  • When UBS announced its cloud strategy in 2018 and leveraged its strategic partnership with Microsoft, it planned to move a third of its applications to the public cloud within four years. Nevertheless, this goal was achieved at the beginning of February 2021.
  • In July, Microsoft called on other big-name cloud-computing providers to urge the US to diversify its spending on such services in a bid to curb them Amazon.com Inc AMZN dominance in such contracts.
